Natalie started preschool this week. I am absolutely in love with her school already. And she is excited to go back after the first day, so that tells me that we are on the right track. Wednesday was her first day. We have been trying to fit in a few last minute things before the start of school. To celebrate the last day of freedom, we had an ice cream date at Orange Leaf Tuesday afternoon:
And then Wednesday! The big first day. It is going to be an adjustment in a lot of ways. School is from 12:00-3:00, so our first major hurdle was figuring out lunch! We are noon eaters. School is 25 minutes away. I was making lunch at 10:30 in the morning. It was all very strange. Then we had to agonize over first day of school attire. I, for one, won't be sad when she has uniforms starting next year!

At noon, the teacher opened the door and welcomed all the kids inside. She greeted each one as they came in. Natalie really likes her already. Brave little lady marched right up to the door, never even looked back at this mama who fought back a little tear.

Ben was tasked with baby-sitting "puppy" while big sister was in school
He fell asleep in the car, and took over an hour nap, which cut into our planned mama-Ben afternoon.
But he rallied when he woke up and we were already at the park.
Given the drive time, and only 3 hours of class, another adjustment to our schedule is figuring out how to occupy my and Ben's time. Drive back and forth? Stay in town? It'll probably be different every day. For the first day, we played at the park and got our grocery shopping done and had plenty of time to be back for the end of the day. Today we have a bike ride planned...and a much-needed haircut for little man.
all smiles at the end of the day!
