Campout

Last week, we loaded our car with a whole lot of supplies and headed down the road to "camp at a campground."  We have been talking about this all summer, but it's been so rainy that there was never a good opportunity to go.  Finally a few good days in the forecast, so we headed out.  The kids had the option: back yard or campground.  Naturally, they chose campground.

after setting up camp, we went to the splashpark

Ice cold milk, perfect for quenching a thirst from all the work setting up camp.

After the splash park and a bike ride, we were ready for dinner.

last activity before bed: some play time on the campground's awesome playground

We read stories and played a board game.  Natalie kept saying she could hear something sniffing outside the tent and then would laugh hysterically as Ben cried.  Then they fell asleep and slept all night, cozy on their air mattresses.  I realized that I might be too old to sleep directly on the ground.

more board games in the tent before breaking down our camp and going on a hike.  1 mile in one hour.  Not speedy, but the kids had fun.
