That's right, yesterday morning Natalie was cruising around the kitchen chairs and table. She made her way over to the bar stools and was standing less than 12 inches from me when all of a sudden she fell straight backwards, desperately gripping the bar stool on her way down. She ended up flat on her back with a bar stool on top of her. Yeesh. I snatched her up, and her left eye was already puffy, and within minutes it was already turning all shades of black and blue. She also ended up with several bumps and bruises on her head, which faded by last evening. The black eye, however, persists. See for yourself:
Minutes after the fall
and today
even her eyelid is bruised
She looks like a prize fighter, eh?
And, now, perhaps the funniest Natalie story of her whole 9 months...
As you likely know by now, we use cloth diapers. Before we left for the tractor show, Natalie pooped, and the diaper needed to be, um, rid of some of its contents before tossing it in the diaper pail. Usually I just shake the diaper contents into toilet, but in the interest of getting out of the house, I sat it aside to be taken care of upon our return. Last evening was bath night, so while I was running the bath water, and Natalie was excitedly watching the tub fill up, I retrieved the dirty diaper to take care of while the water ran. As I was working on the diaper, Nat cruised her way from the tub to the toilet. I was none too happy about her holding on to the toilet seat for balance, but figured it was fine since I had a hand full of dirty diaper, and she was going in the tub in about 3 seconds. The first major chunk of poo was floating in the toilet while I worked on the rest, and about that time I looked back at Natalie who now had both hands in the toilet water, and one hand batting around the poop floating in the toilet. Ew! Needless to say, she got her hands washed twice, extra good, last night. If that's not a story for a prom date, I don't know what is!
